Sidarta Ribeiro, neuroscientist and deputy director of the Brain Institute at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), gave the lecture Brain, imagination and information, from a transdisciplinary perspective on cognitive processes. He addressed phenomena in the field of communication such as post-truth, fake news and conspiracy theories. The researcher’s objective was to propose reflections that result in alternatives to face these problems.

The initiative was from the UFMG Institute for Advanced and Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT), in collaboration with the Postgraduate Program in Information Science.

The speaker’s experience focuses on neuroethology, molecular neurobiology and systems neurophysiology, with an interest in memory, sleep and dreams; neuronal plasticity; vocal communication; symbolic competence in non-human animals; computational psychiatry; neuroeducation; medicinal cannabis; psychedelics and drug policy. Sidarta Ribeiro is the author of more than 100 scientific articles and five books, including The Night Oracle (Cia. das Letras).
