This book was possible after two colloquia organized by the Bureau of Studies on Image and Time BE-IT. The first took place in 2015 and addressed the artist’s Methodologies in his production; the second, in 2016, sought to delve deeper into the Figures of Experience. This collection of texts recalls the voices of the speakers and researchers from the Federal University of Minas Gerais as well as from other Brazilian institutions. In those days of intense communion, students, researchers and listeners dedicated themselves to attentive listening and frank questioning about the place of art today. Therefore, the texts present a diverse panorama of what art embraces: art theory and artistic processes and their narratives, the relations of art with psychoanalysis, historical artistic movements, the analysis of artists’ behaviors and actions, the intricate relations of history with the image, the situation of artists in the face of politics and activism, a historian’s view of an artist and one artist’s view of another, art criticism and theory, all of these structural issues in this book.
