The role of information as an asset and strategic organizational resource will be discussed at the Luso-Brazilian International Seminar on Information Management: Security, technology and innovation, which will be held on September 6, 2022, from 9 am to 12:30 pm, at the Auditorium 1 of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at UFMG.

Certificates will be issued for those who register through the Gestão de Eventos UFMG system and confirm their participation on the day of the event.

One of the organizers of the initiative, IEAT’s resident professor Eliane Pawlowski explains that the event aims to discuss the importance of information in the present scenario of intense competition and continuous technological development of organizations. Starting from a project under development with small and medium-sized industrial companies in Portugal., the Seminar will discuss the topic of information management today and its complexities. “Effective information management implies differentiated processes that that involve everything from technology and data security to the behavior of individuals in the use and sharing of information” – highlights Pawlowski.

According to the schedule, the opening of the event will be at 9 am. Next, Professor Armando Malheiro, from the University of Porto, will give a lecture on the research project GIPMEI (Information Management in Small and Medium-Sized Industrial Enterprises). At 9:45 am, Professor Sónia Estrela, from the University of Aveiro, will address the lecture Diagnosis on information management in Portuguese Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

At 10:15 am, Professor Claudio Paixão, from the School of Information Science at UFMG, will give the lecture Under the sign of Ulysses: Ideologemas of Innovation in the construction of Portuguese Identity and its potential (misused) in Portugal and Brazil. Subsequently, at 10:45 am, the lecture Challenges for Information Management in the digital will be given by Professor Luis Borges Gouveia from the Fernando Pessoa University in the city of Porto, Portugal. At 11:45 am, Professor Claudio Pessoa, from Escola Superior Dom Helder Câmara, will lead the lecture on Management and Protection of Organizational Information. At the end of the lectures, space will be reserved for debate with the public.

The event is organized by the Information and Imaginary Studies Office (GEDII) of the School of Information Science at UFMG, the University of Aveiro and the University of Porto. The initiative has the support of the Institute of Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies at UFMG, the UFMG Postgraduate Information Science Program and the Culture, Space and Memory Transdisciplinary Research Center (Citcem).
