The first meeting of the management committee of the Fundep “Magda Soares” Chair in Basic Education was held today, August 27th, at the headquarters of the Institute of Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies at UFMG.
The meeting was attended by UFMG professors Júlio Emílio Diniz-Pereira, from the Faculty of Education (Fae) and chair coordinator; Maria José Batista Pinto Flores, deputy dean of Undergraduate Studies at UFMG; Patrícia Kauark Leite, director of IEAT; Cleida Aparecida de Oliveira, from the Institute of Biological Sciences (ICB); Jussara de Loiola Araújo, from the Institute of Exact Sciences (ICEx); Meily Assbú Linhales, from the School of Physical Education, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (EEFFTO); and Juliana Miranda Filgueiras, from the Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences (Fafich).
According to professor Júlio Emílio Diniz-Pereira, the meeting discussed information regarding the organization and functioning of the chair and raised some ideas about activities and research possibilities on Basic Education and teacher training in the area linked to the program.
About the Chair
The Fundep “Magda Soares” Chair in Basic Education is part of the first long-term chair program within the scope of IEAT, with funding from the UFMG Support Foundation (Fundep). The program’s main objective is to attract internationally renowned researchers to collaborate in a more organic way with UFMG’s research groups, aiming at the qualified and innovative advancement of transdisciplinary research.
Directed to the theme of Basic Education, the Fundep “Magda Soares” Chair is chaired by Professor António Nóvoa, honorary rector of the University of Lisbon and a world reference in studies on teacher training. In May, he was at UFMG for the launch of the chair and, in September, he will be at the University again to continue the chair’s activities.
