Literary Studies – Faculty of Languages, Literature, and Linguistics (FALE)

Professor at the Faculty of Languages, Literature, and Linguistics (FALE), from 1994 to 2016. Since 2002, she has carried out research and teaching, with support from CNPq, on the literary experience, writing and reading among indigenous people. She led the Transdisciplinary Research Center Literterras: writing, reading, translations (2002-2016), creating the Indigenous Collection of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (ACIND-UFMG). With Literaterras, she coordinated the Intercultural Training course for Indigenous Educators (FIEI / Prolind, 2006-2011) and the edition of 130 works of indigenous authorship (Literaterras / FALE / SECADI / FNDE / MEC). As director of the UFMG Cultural Center (2011-2014), she coordinated the MIRA! Contemporary Visual Arts of Indigenous Peoples, curating an exhibition of 120 works by 54 artists from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru (with 05 editions, in Belo Horizonte and Brasília, from June 2013 to May 2015). From 2018 to 2022, she worked as a Senior Visiting Professor (PNVSA/CAPES) in the Postgraduate Program in Literature: Language and Identity at the Federal University of Acre, where she implemented the Interculturality Laboratory. Currently, she is a collaborating professor in the Postgraduate Program in Literature at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and leads the research group Unã Baina-Rede de Apoio aos Educadores Indígenas. In addition to her own essays and book chapters, magazines and organized and/or edited books, she is also the author of the books 12 Trabalhos de H (1995), 22 Arcanos( 2005), Desocidentada- Literary experience in an indigenous land(2009) and co-author (with Sônia Queiroz) of In the capture of the voice: the editions of oral literature in Brazil( 2004).


THE LIVING BOOK AND THE WAY OF THE MASTER

This project is motivated by the desire to contribute to the articulation of experiences that, through translation and editorial practices, have led to an understanding of indigenous poetics, considering the role of different languages in the knowledge of the respective biomes. Put some of these experiences into dialogue, such as that of the transdisciplinary research center Literaterras, coordinated by me (2002-2015, whose memory is found in the Indigenous Collection of the University Library (ACIND) at UFMG; that of the cooperation network “Bárbara Interventions: Teaching as a Poetic Act”, coordinated by Lúcia Castello Branco; the interinstitutional and transdisciplinary group of researchers Unã Baina, under my leadership; and that of project “Adugo Biri: Etnopoéticas”, coordinated by Enrique Flores Esquivel, will be the main activity of the residency. The dialogues aim to elaborate concepts that have been highlighted for our teaching, research and extension experiences over the last few decades, such as “poetics of myth”, “indigenous school”, “practice of lyrics”, “living book”. To this end, the aim is to hold seminars and colloquiums (in-person and online), involving researchers from different areas of knowledge and national and foreign institutions, as well as systematizing the reflections and textualities produced in these meetings. A possible result would be the enhancement of transdisciplinarity and interculturality inherent to the production of knowledge with indigenous people, through a theoretical approach to experiences carried out at UFMG and other universities, involving editorial processes, in which socio-environmental knowledge is produced in literature (with its multiple languages).
